Urban Events Venues & Catering lights up catering options at Royal Botanic Gardens during Vivid
Friday, 27 May 2016:
Urban Events Venues & Catering, a division of Australia’s largest dining and entertainment business Urban Purveyor Group, has been commissioned as the food and exclusive beverage supplier for the Royal Botanic Gardens during Vivid 2016.
This coveted partnership will see Urban Events’ custom-styled pop-up kitchens cater to crowds that are expected to reach 80,000 to 100,000 people on Friday and Saturday nights during the festival, which coincides with the Royal Botanic Gardens’ 200th birthday celebrations.
The licensed Busby’s Bar will offer a range of beer, cider, spirts, Tyrrell’s Wines, ‘Botanic 200’ wines that have been bottled to celebrate the Royal Botanic Gardens’ momentous anniversary, and mulled wine. The accompanying Busby’s Bites pop-up will serve a range of cheese and charcuterie boxes, as well as churros with salted caramel dip.
The Urban Events crew will also offer quality street food in a third pop-up kitchen for those who do not wish to venture into the licensed area. The menu includes a range of tempting bites, such as popcorn shrimp with spicy sauce, gourmet cheese toasty, roasted pumpkin soup and grilled wagyu beef hotdog.
Urban Events is equipped to deal with activations of this size through the support of Urban Purveyor Group’s central production kitchen, Hanseatic Fine Foods, which supplies the group’s restaurants, as well as Coles, Woolworths, ALDI and Costco with meat, bakery items and smallgoods. The team’s expertise and flexibility to cater for off-site events of this size will help make the Royal Botanic Gardens’ inaugural participation in Vivid a successful venture.
In addition, Urban Events will operate two other pop-up kitchens during Vivid; one in The Rocks precinct and another at Circular Quay, which will feature a 10-metre, exquisitely-styled, marquee and boast a menu of hand-cut Belgian fries, BBQ wagyu beef chili sausage, a kid’s hotdog and chocolate brownie bites with salted caramel fudge.
Well-renowned for the catering, events and experiences that it offers, Urban Events has been appointed by a wide range of organisations to successfully bring food to the forefront of an event while exceeding client needs.
Another major partnership win for Urban Events is securing the City of Sydney’s contract to provide food and beverage catering for New Year’s Eve at Dawes Point for the next two years. The team won the tender for last New Year’s Eve based on its stand-out capacity to provide both food and beverage offerings.
Urban Events also won the exclusive catering contract at Sydney Festival’s Ephemeral City event at The Cutaway, Barangaroo which welcomed around 150,000 visitors throughout the 23-day showcase.
Urban Events Venues & Catering not only provides first-class food from award-winning restaurants including Saké, The Cut Bar & Grill, Café Ananas, Fratelli Fresh and Munich Brauhaus, but also transforms venue settings through innovative styling and decorating that creates truly unique events. This includes light projections, extravagant wall hangings, inspirational table pieces and innovative serviceware. As well as having myriad flexible dining locations and designer restaurants in its portfolio, the group can cater to a wide range of off-site venues, including boats, boardrooms, and floating harbour lagoons.
